On April 24-26, 2013 inAlmaty exhibition complex “Atakent” the 13th Kazakh International Touristic Fair “Tourism and Travelling” took place. In the framework of the exhibition there for the first time was a fair of traditional crafts organized by the “Aigul Line” company with the support of Almaty department of tourism. After the opening ceremonies of KITF-2013 the officials, participators and guests visited the handicraft exhibition and got acquainted with the works of Kazakhstan best craftsmen. Among the fair visitors there were such distinguished guests as vise industry and new technologies minister of the RK Mr. Tuleushin K.A., deputy akim of Almaty region mr. Turdaliev S.M., the head of tourism department Mr. Zhulamanov B.T., regional director of ITE Group Plc Mr. Edward Stroon (Great Britain).
It is worth of mentioning the fact that for the first time in fair’s 13 years history the event attracted more than 550 companies from 43 states. The record attendance served for extra agiotage over the fair, where one could see such traditional Kazakh crafts as felting, examples of leather and pottery art, jewelry, and also woodwork, making of dolls, embroidery and silk painting. The yurt and its beautiful decoration drew special attention of foreign guests. Many of them showed high interest in the history and culture of Kazakh people, purchased gifts and souvenirs.
The great attention of visitors as well was attracted with organized master classes on felting process and silk painting. It should be also noticed, among the participators of the fair who presented own works there were children children with violations of the musculoskeletal system from the boarding-school №2. In this school in the framework of the project of the public fund “Bota” the “Aigul Line” company has been providing felting classes since September 2012.
On April 24 during the republic conference on the issues of tourism development in Kazakhstan the head of “Aigul Line” Aigul Zhanserikova made the presentation titled “The traditional crafts as the reflection of Kazakh people’s cultural values”. The conference was organized by the Industry and Tourism Committee of the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the framework of KITF 2013. In her report Aigul Zhanserikova covered the problems of craft industry development, the ways of their solution and proposed collaboration in the area of tourism development in Kazakhstan.
