This is the only event in the whole world of festival kind devoted to nomad civilization. It enjoys great popularity among Astana citizens and guests. National costumes vested festival’s participants, snow-white yurts, balbals (stone statues) alley - all that created the atmosphere of the ancient city. Craftsmen represented hand-made products made of leather, clay, felt, wood, national-style finery and many other things. For volunteers felting and pottery master classes were held.

In yurts guests were offered to try national Kazakh cuisine treatments and the concerts featuringKazakhstanand CIS countries stars took place onstage. 

June, 26. The award of winners of the Republican competition «Myths and legendsof Kazakhstan» organized by The Committee of the industry of tourism at the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic of Kazakhstan took place in Astana. Competition involved more than 130 stories of which the expert committee selected seven works most consistent with such requirements as creativity, expressiveness, accuracy and clarity of the language of presentation, wealth of imagination and depth of emotional and aesthetic heritage.

Aigul Zhanserikova has become one of the winners with her work “The role of the felt in the history of the Kazakh people” about valuable properties of felt, its use in everyday life and the election of the Kazakh khans by lifting on white felt mat. It was also stressed that with such a historical significance, felt has the potential to become a national brand of Kazakhstan.

Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Industry and New Technologies Aset Isekeshev has congratulated the winners of the competition and has noted that this event will contribute to the greater development of domestic tourism, which can be assessed not only from the point of view of economic efficiency, but also patriotism.
